Konstantina E. Botsiou is Professor in Political History and International Relations in the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus, where she also served as Dean of the School of Economic, Business, and International Studies.
She graduated with honors from the Department of History-Archaeology at the University of Athens and holds a PhD from the University of Tübingen (magna cum laude). She has taught history and International Relations at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Athens and at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of the Peloponnese (Corinth), where she also served as Vice Rector/Deputy Rector for Economics, Studies and Quality Assurance and Director of the Centre for Greek and International History (KEDIS).
Since 2015 she is Visiting Professor at the Hellenic National Defense College (HNDC). Since 2020 she is General Director of the Council for International Relations-Greece (CfIR-GR). She was Deputy Director of the Jean Monnet European Center of Excellence of the University of Athens, General Director and Vice President at the Konstantinos Karamanlis Institute for Democracy.
She was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Library of Greece and she participated in the academic administration of the Hellenic Diplomatic Academy, the Hellenic Parliament Foundation, the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, a.o.
She has received scholarships and fellowships from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation, the Erasmus Program, the LSE IDEAS, the US IVLP, DAAD, the Konstantinos G. Karamanlis Foundation, the A. Andreadis Fund, a.o. She is peer-reviewer in many prominent journals. She participates in several TV history and IR documentaries in Greece and abroad. She is an op-ed columnist in prominent newspapers. She is Director of the publication series “Contemporary and World History“ at Papadopoulos Publishers.
In the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus she teaches the undergraduate courses “Greek State and External Relations: History and Politics”, “Greece and the World in the 20th century”, “American Politics” and “International Relations in the Cold War”.
She co-teaches the postgraduate courses “American History: Politics, Culture and Ideology” in the MSc “American Studies”, “Geopolitics and International Security” and “Greek Foreign Policy and Security Policy” in the MA “International and European Studies”.
