The main purpose of the Laboratory of Intelligence and Cyber-Security is to analyze the security challenges that relate to intelligence and cyberspace. The laboratory focuses mainly on the following topics: function of intelligence agencies, intelligence reform, intelligence and ethics, economic espionage, oversight of intelligence agencies and security services and cyberspace governance.

Since its inception, the Laboratory has co-organized conferences (e.g., the 7th Scientific Conference on the theme: Surveillance Society: From Cybersecurity to Fake News: Media, Messages, Strategies, co-organized with the Department’s Laboratory of Strategic Communication and Media) and lectures by academics and institutional figures (e.g., a speech by the Chief of the Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, on the topic: “National Security Policy with an Emphasis on Early Warning” and a speech by Professor Nikolaos Kyriazis of the University of Thessaly on “The Importance of Information in World War II”). It has also organized lectures featuring researchers from Greece and abroad and has published research papers. As part of its research activities, the Center has published articles in international academic journals such as the Journal of Information Warfare, the International Journal of Cyberwarfare and Terrorism, and the Journal of Intelligence History, as well as in Greek journals such as the Naval Review and the Air Force Review. At the same time, presentations have been made at international scientific conferences such as the European Conference on Cyberwarfare and Security and in edited volumes published by international publishers such as Springer and Edward Elgar. Finally, in 2021, the Laboratory, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Governance, conducted a research study titled “Hybrid Threats in Relation to Greece and Ways to Address Them.”
